Why should I get a College Degree?
It’s common knowledge that people with more education get jobs that pay more money. How much more? In a lifetime, college graduates earn nearly $1 million more than their friends and family members with only a high school diploma.
On average, earnings increase with education, regardless of race or gender. You will also be less likely to become unemployed. According to 2018 data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics (BLS), median weekly earnings grow from $493 to $678 per week, just by earning a high school diploma. Having an Associate’s degree increases to $798 weekly and having a Bachelor’s degree increases average earnings to $1,137 per week. More education pays off in higher earnings and even lower unemployment rates.
