Career Exploration is essentially finding out about different occupations and their “fit” with your interest level in various careers. For example, the skills, interests, and qualities should align with your chosen career path. In a perfect world, you take part in career exploration during or after using self-assessment tools to identify the careers that are most suitable to you. As most adults would attest, career exploration and continuing education is a life-long journey for us all.
The Mississippi Department of Education encourages students to begin career exploration in the 6th grade. Students, parents, and counselors can view this document to review suggestions and resources for each grade level.
